Make a Book With Kodak Gallery

I enjoy making picture books, but my skills in design need some major honing. That’s why simple drag and drop book builders make sense to me. Something that makes me look good? Why of course, thank you! Kodak Gallery allows you and your children to create picture books and photo books with easy to use online software. Yes, that’s online. The software does take a little bit of time to load, but it’s worthwhile. If you have over 400 photos to upload, there is a software download option. Kodak has several sizes of photo books. They come in small, medium … Continue reading

Kelle Hampton’s Beautiful Blog

Kelle Hampton is a talented photographer and blogger, and the words and photographs that appear on her blog have attracted the attention of so many people. Her photographs are stunningly beautiful, and would not be out of place on the pages of a parenting magazine, or in an art gallery. Her words are honest, and come from her heart, even when it would be easier to sugar coat what she is trying to say. Together, the words and photos tell the story of what life is like as a mother of two beautiful daughters, one of whom happens to have … Continue reading

Creating Chic Artwork

There is no need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on artwork for your home when you can create your own. Top designers do it all of the time. Last Sunday, my family and I were out walking around a local attraction. We wound up in a large and pretty cool tree house. The kids were watching some bees go in and out of a glass and wood hive, and my husband was enjoying the view. The light was just right, so I thought I would snap a photo. Well, at that moment I moved a bit and the … Continue reading

Holidays and Marriage – Part 3

One of the biggest considerations for your marriage with a holiday plan is whether you are going to camp. For many families this is a cheap alternative. But unless you are the type of people who enjoy this sort of thing, then don’t even consider it. For Mick and me, camping would not be a holiday but a nightmare. I would rather stay home than go camping. Thankfully Mick feels the same. As a result we could probably count on or fingers, maybe even one hand, the number of holidays we have taken in our married life. And that’s okay. … Continue reading

Green Art – Floppy Disks

I have blogged about green celebrities, but today, I am going to talk about green artists. These are artists that keep ecology themes and social issues in mind when making their art. Most use recycled items or trash to make their art. One such artist is Diana Ritter. She uses something that used to be very dear to my heart – 3 1/2 inch floppy disks. I was in the computing field when you simply could not live without 3 1/2 floppy disks. God only knows how many of these were created during the ‘80s and ‘90s. Then, technology changed … Continue reading

Quickly Becoming Obsolete – Part 1

Not too long ago, I blogged about companies that are no longer in business. But, what about things that are still currently around, but are slowly becoming obsolete in today’s society? I found a list of things on AOL that may be going away sooner than you think! Movie Rental Stores I remember when video rental first came out. It seemed like everyone opened his or her own movie rental store. Then, Blockbuster and Hollywood came along and put most of the mom and pop places out of business. Now it seems like mail order places such as Netflix will … Continue reading

Dice Creatures – a Fun Drawing Game to Jumpstart Imaginations

Sometimes our imaginations seem stalled. Here’s an idea for jumpstarting creativity. All you need are a pair of dice, a mailing label or other blank sticker, and some drawing paper. Cut the mailing label into six small bits that can cover the sides of one of the dice. Before you put the labels on, write one of these words on each of the six tiny pieces of sticker: heads, tails, legs, eyes, horns/antennae, wings. Then put the worded label on each side of the die. (Die is the singular for the plural of dice, but it never does sound right.) … Continue reading

A Family Art Gallery

With three children making pictures, it never took long to fill up the space on the front of the refrigerator. We started several art galleries in our house to showcase their work. Framing the children’s art makes them feel important. And I love the way it looks on our walls. It’s a fun family look. I’m not talking frame shops here, but something you can do yourself. If you’ve ever had a piece of art framed you know that it’s very expensive, and you probably picked from a mat or two to highlight the art. You can easily copy the … Continue reading
