A Storybook Dollhouseby Lauri Griffin | More from this Blogger 14 Apr 2008 10:25 AM It's no secret that we like books around here. Not only do they educate and entertain, but they give our family a shared common experience. Our library has done something with children's books and a dollhouse that is so fun and unique. At first glance, it's a furnished dollhouse. But the more you look, the more you find references to children's books in this storybook house. The library's house probably has at least a hundred. And at the risk of embarrassing him, even my teenager had a great time identifying the different objects from beloved books. See how many of these clues you can guess! I've put the answers at the bottom of this post. 1. A cut out of a shadow hangs from a dresser drawer. 2. A penguin is peering inside the refrigerator. 3. Beside the fridge is a little mouse eating a cookie 4. A small bear is sitting on the sofa, his green coveralls are missing a button. 5. In the closet there's a pair of sparkling red slippers 6. A yellow shirt, bow tie, and glasses are laid out of the bed 7. Outside there's a clothesline with hanging mittens 8. Still outside, there are piles of straw, sticks, and bricks 9. And a red jeep with sheep sitting in it 10. And a boxcar parked in the yard 11. And on the front porch sits a package to Australia from Alexander Answers: 1. Peter Pan 2. Mr. Popper's Penguins 3. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie 4. Corduroy 5. Wizard of Oz 6. Arthur 7. The Three Little Kittens 8. The Three Little Pigs 9. Sheep in a Jeep 10. The Boxcar Children 11. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day I think a storybook house would be a great addition to any classroom or any family's house with young children. Picking out something to represent the books you read would be so fun!
