Harry Potter Scene It? The DVD Game

Movie fans should give the Scene It? DVD games a try. Our family got the 2nd edition of Harry Potter Scene It? for Christmas. The game can be played with two to four players, or in teams. We divided up into three teams, my husband and one nine year old were one team, our other nine year old and I were another team, and our fourteen year old was on his own. He skunked us all. I’ve heard that kids can trounce adults in the Disney version, too! You do need a DVD player to play the game. An on … Continue reading

Two Weeks in Review – Fun

We’ve had a rough winter with illnesses at our house. We missed a lot of the fun buildup to Christmas, so we decided to Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas. You can beat the after Christmas slumps with fun ideas in The Day After Christmas. A Tree For The Birds is a great winter time activity for families. It doesn’t take much time, and makes for a nice yearly tradition. Window Stars are more complicated than I thought, but have intriguing possibilities. When my twenty-two year old niece, our nine year old neighbor, and my fourteen year old all raved … Continue reading

Green cards have descriptive words like cowardly, refreshing, dainty, frazzled and heartless. The other players each choose a red card. These red cards each have the name of … Continue reading

San Francisco Bans Happy Meals

Many parents are unhappy about Happy Meals. Although McDonalds has tried to nutrition up the meals with the offers of apple slices instead of fries and one percent milk, the meals are still pretty unhealthy for our little ones. But, the kids see the toys that come with the meals (often associated with popular current movies) and want the meal. I know I have to fight my little guy when he wants the Happy Meal MegaMind toys that are out now. This past Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors in San Francisco made a bold move. They instigated an ordinance that … Continue reading
