Grateful for Baby

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I decided to think about all the things that I am grateful for about my job as a Mother to my sweet little baby. Yesterday, one of my older children was sick. I had very little sleep, and had been up since about 2 am. Needless to say, I was pretty grouchy when the sun started to rise and I had to continue on with my daily duties as a Mom. But, then my baby woke up. I walked into his room, and he smiled at me (like he always does). I thought to myself, … Continue reading

Baby Slings for Your Preschooler’s Dolls

My daughter loves her dollies. I am proud to say that she also loves her Lego, planes, fire trucks and her parking garage. A well-balanced kid, she is. Last weekend, we got lovely and loving stares at a craft fair as she cradled yet another doll with a homemade knitted sweater. The ladies at the craft fair looked on with little smiles on their faces. Yes, I caved and bought it for her. Of course, her dolls require accessories. I bowed to her desire for a cradle and she used her allowance to buy a large, lined basket. She has … Continue reading

“Jon and Kate Plus 8”: Misery Loves Company

Does it ever… If you tuned into watch the Gosselin’s martial meltdown of TLC’s “Jon and Kate Plus 8” on Monday night you weren’t alone. According to reports, the season premiere of “Jon and Kate Plus 8” was watched by a record breaking 9.8 million people. The number is also on par with the finale of “Sex and the City,” which aired five years ago. The ratings for Monday’s “Jon and Kate” were the highest in TLC’s history. Not only did … Continue reading

While rumors swirl regarding his ex-wife being pregnant, Ethan Hawke’s current wife just popped out a new daughter he fathered. And she used to … Continue reading

My Obsession with Baby Feet

Let’s face it, babies are cute even when they fill up their diapers. We all know that. But when it comes to baby feet, I am completely obsessed. I just love little baby feet. They are cute, compact and unlike adult feet, adorable. I love the little toes and the little flat arches that kick out in excitement. And yes, I even love the smell. People often talk about that great baby smell that you get when taking a whiff of a freshly washed warm little baby head, but I prefer the little feet. For one thing, there are two … Continue reading

Oh what a night, er, afternoon. On a recent Sunday, we hung out at Club Shampoo in Philadelphia and danced ourselves into a tizzy at the monthly Baby Loves Disco event. Baby Loves Disco is akin to a social movement; a grassroots effort, promoting and facilitating a unique variety of parent/child bonding that is popping up in what seems like more cities every month. Currently held in seventeen cities, from Seattle to Denver to Brooklyn, Baby Loves Disco throws mid-afternoon dance parties once a month for kids age seven and younger, and their adult companions. Now, I was never a … Continue reading

What is Your Ten Month Old Up To?

I can’t believe that we are just two short months away from my baby being a year old. 10 months have flown by. While I can’t say I’ve enjoyed every single second, I sure do love my little baby. I have been enjoying him reaching milestones, and I can’t wait to see what is to come. With his recent discovery that he likes sippy cups with straws, we have had plenty of meal times that get rather messy for me, but fun for him. He loves to drink water from a straw, but as soon as he is done, he … Continue reading

Introducing Solids Part IV

My daughter would get so excited every time we sat down to eat breakfast. I never imagined that my daughter would actually be eating eggs at seven months but when she started grabbing my fork and sucking the egg yolk off the tines, I figured it was time. Egg yolks are the perfect little golden nugget of nutrients and are very easy for babies to eat (egg yolk practically melts in the mouth). A few tastes of egg yolk turned into a quarter of an egg yolk, which turned into half and egg yolk, which turned into a whole egg … Continue reading

Feeding Your Toddler – What We’re Eating Now

One common dilemma faced by the parents of toddlers is getting them to stop playing and exploring for long enough to refuel their bodies with nutritious foods. Exactly how to do that is up to you. What we eat at our house and how we eat it may be different than in your home. What is most important is that we as parents offer our toddlers plenty of opportunities to eat nutritious foods throughout their day. In the morning, Dylan wakes up hungry. We all wake up at about the same time, so we head out to the kitchen. He … Continue reading
