by Lauri Griffin

03 Mar 2008 07:46 PM

I've seen a lot of dinosaur egg toys in stores lately. They look like sandy rocks. The idea is that you gradually scrape them away or break them open to find the toy inside. They don't cost that much, but it is fun to make your own.

Here's a simple craft that's guaranteed to charm young children. As a plus, it only takes paper and scissors. We called this craft "paper dolls" when I was little, but it's really paper shapes. To make your own shapes, fold a piece of paper back on itself by a couple of inches.

by Lauri Griffin

04 Jun 2007 10:02 AM

I'm a big believer in letting kids invent and make up their own games. Not only does it foster creativity and encourage problem solving and thinking skills but it takes twice as long! They have to create the game before they play it.
