Having Fun When the Temperature Plummets

by Michele Cheplic

20 Jan 2009 02:20 AM

The Weather Channel is predicting snow for parts of Georgia today. I guess no one is being spared from this nasty winter weather. Of course, a little snow is nothing compared to the 40 below temps other parts of the country dealt with last week.

Fun Ideas for Family Night

by Nicole Humphrey

02 Sep 2008 08:52 PM

Family nights are an important part of childhood. With our busy schedules, many families find less and less time to spend together. It is important to make time for your family, so plan something fun to do with everyone a couple of times a month.

Fun With Laundry and Towels

by Lauri Griffin

07 Jul 2008 06:51 PM

When I cleaned out our linen closet the other day I ended up making a huge pile of towels and sheets in the hallway. The kids laughed at the mountain of linens. I told them it used to be one of their favorite games, but they didn't believe me.

Fun With Morse Code

by Lauri Griffin

28 Jun 2008 07:00 PM

Morse code has a very interesting history, in many ways this simple code led to modern day communications. In Morse code, the letters of the alphabet are represented by dots and dashes. It's also one of the few codes that can be communicated by light or sound.

Pig Latin

Remember "Pig Latin"? It really doesn't have anything to do with Latin, but it is a fun language game. You can either share these language skills with the kids or use it as a way to talk around them if they've already learned to spell.

Keeping Toddlers Busy in the Kitchen

by Lauri Griffin

21 Jun 2008 02:18 PM

There is something about late afternoon and toddlers. I've even heard it called the witching hour. Everyone is tired and cranky. I remember trying to fix dinner and the kids didn't want to stay in the kitchen where I could see them. Or they wanted to help.

Sidewalk Chalk Games

by Lauri Griffin

Break out the sidewalk chalk and think big! With a yard stick, or a board to use for a straight edge, your kids can use the chalk to draw a giant checkerboard or chess game on the driveway or patio.

A Family Art Gallery

by Lauri Griffin

03 Jun 2008 07:07 PM

With three children making pictures, it never took long to fill up the space on the front of the refrigerator. We started several art galleries in our house to showcase their work. Framing the children's art makes them feel important. And I love the way it looks on our walls. It's a fun family look.

Gardening With Children - Plants of Their Own

by Lauri Griffin

10 May 2008 06:38 AM

Today I took the boys to a local greenhouse and nursery. I told them they each could pick out a plant to take care of this summer. They were actually excited about the chance to pick out a plant of their own. Around our neighborhood we are just seeing signs of spring.

Dress Up Play for Boys

by Lauri Griffin

05 May 2008 03:52 PM

Dress up boxes for little girls are easy to put together, but what can you do for little boys? Boys like to put on different clothes and have fun pretending too. I thought I'd share some of the things that have been in our costume box. Hats are fun and easy.
