Cool Crafts with Favorite Photographs

Most people enjoy looking through family photographs and taking a trip down memory lane. Most of us also have a few favorite photos that are particularly special. There are some cool ways to make the most of your and your children's favorite photos.

Make a Shirt

You can purchase iron on transfer paper made especially for your computer printer, and print your favorite photograph onto it to make an easy shirt. This can be done with digital photos uploaded to the computer, or you can scan a great picture to use. Make sure you select the appropriate transfer paper. There are different ones for light and dark colored fabrics. Also, be careful when selecting fabric, because a photo with lots of dark colors will show up better on a contrasting fabric and vice versa.

*You can also use this process to create custom accent pillows, quilts, etc.

Make a Photo Collage

Make photocopies or print copies of favorite photographs from your computer. Cut the copies into different shapes and apply to a background, having your child overlap here and there. Using black and white photos also looks cool. Place in a frame and hang in your child's room for him or her to enjoy.

Gather photos from a special event or holiday and use them together to create a fun family keepsake.

Help Your Child Make His or Her Own Photo Album

If you're worried about something happening to special photos, make copies to use for this project. Cut standard sheets of cardstock in half from side to side (or cut pieces of poster board to size). Turn them lengthwise and punch holes along one side. Attach each page by stringing ribbon through the holes. Attach photos to each page with special photo holders (usually found with scrapbooking supplies). Decorate album as desired.
