Craft Your Own Pool Toys and Bath Toys

by Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger

Here are a few cute, fun ideas that are super simple to do and cost less than a dollar each to make. Your kids will love these cool pool toys and bath toys, and they can say, "I made them myself!"

Flower Shaped Floats

All you need to make a fun bath toy or pool toy is seven soda bottle caps, some glue, and a little craft paint (optional). Arrange the bottle caps, open side up, in the shape of a flower (see below). Glue them together to create a flower that floats. Paint in floral colors if desired. Try other shapes and sizes too!

Personalized Initial Floats from Bottle Caps or Craft Foam

As described above, arrange bottle caps to create the shape of your child's first initial. Glue together then paint if desired. For extra fun, don't stop at the first initial. Make all the letters to spell out your child's name, or make numbers or ABCs. Another option is to cut your child's name or initials from craft foam, which kids can stick to shower walls when wet, or play with in the pool.

Water Balls for the Pool

Purchase pairs of different colored pairs pantyhose or tights. Cut each pair in half from the waist, with one leg on each side. Cut them off about 8" up from the toe seam so the cut section looks like a little bag. Fill the "bag" with the rest of the leg/waist section. Stretch the top of the bag and tie it in a knot. Soak up some water with them and toss them around the pool to splash each other. Use them for games too, like diving for the balls, or float some light plastic bowls (like margarine tubs) on the water and try to hit them with the water balls.
