Create a Review of this Past Year as a Family

This is a great family project to help keep memories fresh and to relive special moments together. You can use a scrapbook or create a keepsake book of your own design for this purpose.

Have everyone think over the things that happened or the occasions that occurred or the special things you did together as a family throughout the year. Have each family member write down one item he or she liked for each month. They can write down several if they want to, but at least one is necessary. When the lists are compiled, everyone votes on the best activity, event, or occasion for each month (maybe choose something other than major holidays, or add an extra event to those months).

You can all work together to collect details of the event such as photos, souvenirs, ticket stubs or invitations, and things of that nature that you can add to the pages of your book. You can add decorative elements, draw pictures, write down things that you remember such as something funny one of you said, or write an account of what occurred on that date, allowing everyone to offer input.

Make these books each year and look over them in the years to come for a great trip down Memory Lane. In fact, you might want to help each child make their own, while you and Mom or Dad make one, so they can take them with them when they leave home. These will be fun items to share with their own children someday. I wish I had something like this to share with my kiddos from when I was young.

For more ideas, you might want to check out articles like, "Make a School Days Keepsake Book" or "Mom's Day Memory Book." These books can easily be adapted for this project. Also, be sure to check out the Scrapbooking Blog for lots of fun, creative ideas!
