Cute Party Favor Pails You Can Make

You can use these party favor pails for any type of party, from Halloween and Harvest to birthdays and more. You can make them with stuff you already have and just a few things from the store.

Here is what you'll need:

  • Plastic 20-ounce soda bottles
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Water
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Chenille stems (pipe cleaners)
  • Googly eyes (optional)

Here's what you need to do:

You will need one plastic bottle for each guest plus the guest of honor. Start by making sure they are clean and dry.

Have a grown up use the scissors to cut off the top section of the bottles. They should be about 4" high after they're cut.

Mix some glue and water together, about two parts glue and one part water, or thinner if you like. Use this mixture to apply torn pieces of tissue paper all around the cups, making sure to overlap the top edge to cover any rough spots.

Let the whole thing dry. When dry, glue on googly eyes, design your own faces, or decorate any way you like.

Use the hole punch to make a hole near the top on each side. Pull one end of a chenille stem through one hole and twist into a knot. Pull to the other side and push the other end through the other hole, and knot it as well. This will be your handle.

You can use orange paper to make your pails look like pumpkins (or use white paper then paint them orange). You can use plain white paper to make ghosts, or use a different color and come up with your own creatures.

After each of the party favor pails is decorated, fill them with candy, treats, or trinkets. You can also add each guest's name to his or her pail if desired.

This is a really great idea. I never thought about taking cups and making the party favors. I always buy the little bags this way my kids could make it the way they wanted for the person that they want to give it too. This is a really great idea thanks.
