Cute Refrigerator Magnetsby Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger 17 Apr 2006 05:48 AM You and your children will have fun making these cute refrigerator magnets. They are great for hanging up other masterpieces made by your little artists. Flower Magnets If you liked the Craft Your Own Pool Toys and Bath Toys projects, you might like this one as well. Have your child cut out a flower shape from felt or construction paper. Glue a soda bottle cap (paint it first if desired) to each cutout. Attach a magnet or magnetic strip to the back. You may need to attach the paper or fabric to poster board to make it more sturdy (you can cut up a paper plate if you don't have poster board handy). Use green pipe cleaners for the stem and make leaves from felt, paper, or more pipe cleaners. Staple in place. *Using leftover kitchen wallpaper or denim from cut-offs is also cute.
Magnet Bar Glue three or four soda bottle caps side by side. Paint as desired. Adhere small magnets to the back of each cap or attach a magnetic strip across the back of the entire finished piece. Glue beads, tiny artificial flowers, ribbon roses, stars, letters, or any other tiny accessory you like inside each cap. Miscellaneous Magnets 1. Add magnets to the backs of Matchbox Cars for cool racecar magnets (you will need heavier magnets for this one). 2. You can also decorate magnets with individual artificial flowers, the larger the better, to create a colorful flower garden on the fridge. Make a picket fence magnet from craft sticks (like Popsicle sticks) to complete the look. 3. Craft sticks can also be used in other ways, and single sticks can be decorated with each child's name. Add a magnet strip to the back or small individual magnets at each end. Your child can also glue craft sticks together to make a photo frame to hang. Paint it, attach cardboard to the back, and place magnetic strips down each side and across the top and bottom of the frame. 4. Attach magnets to the back of a small chalkboard to make a note center on the fridge. Tie ribbon or string around a piece of chalk, and secure the other end of the string to the chalkboard with a staple.
