Decorated Container Preschool Craft

This craft can take on pretty much any variation you would like, depending on what you have on hand. This covered container started out as an empty oatmeal box, but you can use whatever you have, like a cereal box, a juice can or even a shoe box. You will need: Container Nontoxic craft glue or tape (double-sided is nice) Scissors Paper Markers, crayons, colored paper, stickers etc...to decorate Ribbon

1. Cut the paper to the right size to cover the box or container. Tape together pieced sections. You can use plain paper, even a grocery sack, or construction paper. Here, we used green wrapping paper.

2. Lay the paper flat on the table and let your preschooler decorate it. We stuck daisy stickers all over the wrapping paper and then glued on big rhinestones for some of the centers. If your child decorates the paper with just markers or crayons, you can cover the paper with clear Contact Paper to make it waterproof and more durable if you want.

3. Let everything dry if you've used glue.

4. Tape or glue the paper onto the box. Double-sided tape is perfect for this project.

5. Tie a ribbon around the middle of the container to add a little extra decoration if you would like.

If you want to get fancy, you can line the inside of the box with paper or felt. you can also punch holes in the sides of the box and add a ribbon handle.

Containers like these are great for storing art supplies, especially things that can get loose like markers, colored pencils and crayons. Boxes big enough to hold paper can keep kids' artwork neat and extra papers organized. They can be used on your desktop, or in a child's room. We use ours for hair bands, ribbons and brushes.
