Easy and Affordable Easter Decorationsby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 06 Apr 2009 07:15 PM Why empty your wallet purchasing expensive Easter decorations when you can make adorable holiday decor on your own without breaking a sweat or the bank. The following simple Easter activities are ideal for festive families living on a budget: BUNNY PRINTS Once your kids are in bed grab an old shoebox lid and cut out big bunny paw prints and use them as stencils. Next, strategically place the stencils in various spots in and around your house and sprinkle baking soda in each. Lift up the stencils to reveal cute white bunny paw prints. (Note: The baking soda vacuums up off the carpet very easily.) FLOWER NEST CENTERPIECE Fill a medium-size bowl with a few inches of water. Next, place a small bowl filled with colored Easter eggs in the center of the larger bowl. Prop the small bowl on a dish if necessary to keep out of the water. Gather about two-dozen carnations (more or less depending on size of bowl) and cut flower stems about 2 or 3 inches long. Place the blooms around the bowl of eggs. The flowers will create a nest for your beautifully colored Easter eggs. EASTER VASE Use a large-mouth clear vase and place a clear drinking glass in the center. Gently stack dyed Easter eggs between the glass and jar, alternating egg colors. Fill the glass with water. Cut the stems of your favorite spring flowers (roses, gerbera daisies, tulips, irises, hyacinth, and lilies work well) to the desired length, and arrange them in the glass. EASTER EGG COASTERS Materials: Pencil Paper Scissors Craft foam (in a variety of spring colors) White craft glue Directions: Draw an egg shape on a piece of paper. Cut out the shape. Use the shape as a pattern on the craft foam. Cut out egg shape from craft foam. Cut out various shapes from remaining craft foam (e.g. diamonds, hearts, circles, squares, stars, etc.) Glue the foam shapes on one side of the foam egg. Allow glue to dry thoroughly before using your new Easter egg coasters.
