End of the School Year Party

My last job as room mom this year is to plan an end of the year party. The end of year party is actually one of the easiest to plan. We can almost for sure count on good weather. We plan on having the kids do some outside games like bubbles and the egg and spoon race. Relay races are easy to organize. Hopefully all the kids will remember to wear sunscreen that day. Just in case they don't, we have a mother bringing some extra. The only other important supply is a few blankets for the kids to sit on under the trees.

Our school participates in the Box Top program. The class that brings the most box tops to school wins a pizza party. For months, the class my twins were in was in the lead. But at the last moment they were beat out by another class.

Since the boys and their classmates were so disappointed, the parents decided we'd give the class a pizza party. For drinks we are going to mix juice with sparkling water. Since we are going to be outside, the kids will be thirsty. We didn't want them to have too much sugar. With a bright color straw and sparkling water the kids will think it's a special treat, not healthy.

For dessert the kids are getting to make multiplication table ice cream sundaes. If they know their "two's" all the way up to two times twelve, they get a bowl. The threes get them a spoon. The rest of the numbers get them ice cream, chocolate and strawberry sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. Ice cream is a great motivator. The class has been working very hard on their multiplication facts!

I'm glad the kids are getting an end of the year party. I hope it will be a fun day for them to play with their classmates and to celebrate all the things they've learned this year.
