If you live on the East Coast of the United States, then you have reason to celebrate this summer. Your neck of the woods is bustling with free activities for the entire family. If you are keeping a tight grip on your wallet, but still want to have fun in the sun this summer, then consider taking advantage of the following free attractions:

MAINE

Goovin' in the great outdoors is made easier this summer in Maine thanks to Freeport's 11th annual Summer Concert Series. This year's lineup includes Patty Loveless and Asleep at the Wheel; shows start at 7:30 on Saturday nights from June 27-September 6th.

MASSACHUSETTS

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is not only the country's largest independent oceanographic research institution, it also served as the iconic hangout in the blockbuster "Jaws." What's more, you don't have to pay a dime to partake in daily walking tours of the facility, which take place each day during the summer season. Visitors can also watch a video that shows a day in the life of the deep submersible Alvin and highlights the 1985-86 discovery and exploration of the wreck of the Titanic, free of charge.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

This popular New Hampshire attraction is a favorite for kids and parents alike. Each summer hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to the Anheuser-Busch factory to view the company's iconic, hardworking equines and sample some freshly brewed beer (adults-only). The free factory tour at the company's scenic Merrimack Valley location also allows guests to take souvenir photos with the mighty horses during Budweiser Clydesdale Camera Days the first Saturday of the month.

RHODE ISLAND

Get ready to put some spark in your summer vacation by visiting Waterfire Providence, a mesmerizing public art event that draws thousands of spectators to the city's three rivers. During the festival one hundred wood-filled braziers are lit just after sunset and the revelry extends past midnight. The festivities take place this summer on June 13, July 25, August 8 and 22, and September 5.
