Fun Group Halloween Costumesby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 08 Oct 2009 12:09 PM A couple of years ago one of the moms in my daughter's playgroup suggested that we dress our kids in coordinating Halloween costumes for our city's annual Boo Bash. She thought it would be cute to have each child dress up as a zoo animal. My daughter chose a monkey costume. The other playgroup kids attended the event dressed as a horse, lion, peacock, and penguin. Meanwhile, the moms dressed as zookeepers. It was fun, and we got a ton of positive feedback from fellow Boo Bashers. If you are looking to step it up this October, and really show those trick-or-treaters that your family, co-workers, or group of friends has Halloween spirit, consider the following costume ideas: The Addams Family: The eccentric TV clan is perfect for a group that's into creepy costumes. Morticia and Gomez, Cousin It, Lurch, Uncle Fester, Wednesday and Pugsley costumes can be made with simple materials found around the house. The Wizard of Oz: For a more traditional look, consider dressing up like the characters from the award-winning movie about a little girl and her tiny pooch. The Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Man costumes are readily available at costume shops nationwide. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Remember, girls can be dwarfs too. Snow White's dress can be recreated with materials you can round up at home. Likewise, the seven dwarfs' costumes can be put together at the last minute. Simply find some baggy clothes, oversized shoes and a few hats and you are good to go. Sweet Treats: If you like to roll as a unit, consider dressing identically in the following candy costumes that can be made at home or purchased at a costume shop: M&Ms, Hershey Kisses, Lifesavers, or Tootsie Rolls. Pooh and Friends: Another cute costume idea the whole family can get in on is dressing up like the characters from Winnie the Pooh. Inspiration for costume details can be found on TV, DVDs or the many books written by A. A. Milne. Characters include: Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo, and Christopher Robin.
