Fun Halloween Games for Kids

If you are hosting a Halloween party for kids this year you don't want your young guests to be stuck playing musical chairs all afternoon. Instead, get creative and use the holiday theme to your advantage.

The following are tried and true party games (courtesy of the folks at Hershey's) that were a hit at a Halloween playgroup party my daughter attended last year. They are simple, fun, and you can tailor them to suit the age range of the party participants.

MUMMY HANDS

Object of the Game: Mummified players need to transport goodies out of a crypt (a decorated box) and onto the party table. Player's hands are wrapped with toilet paper and secured with tape. They then have to remove the lids from their crypts, move all of the candies from their box across the room, and sort each candy into its own separate party bowl, as quickly as possible. Any candy that's dropped during the move goes back into the crypt. The player who successfully moves and sorts all the candy first wins the game.

Materials:

A mixture of Halloween candy (mini candy bars, lollipops, bubble gum, licorice, etc.)

Shoeboxes with lids

3 plastic bowls per each shoe box

Toilet paper

Tape

Directions:

Cover shoeboxes with black paper to look like crypts (you can embellish them to make them look more realistic). Fill each crypt with an assortment of candy. Place crypts on a table on one side of the room. Place three plastic bowls on a table across the room from each crypt, making sure players have a clear path between the two tables. Wrap player's hands in toilet paper so they can't use their fingers. Let the fun begin.

PIN THE WART ON THE WITCH

Object of the Game: See who can place the "wart" as close to the witch's nose as possible... while blindfolded.

Materials:

Hershey's Kisses

Poster sized print of witch's face (you can make your own or buy one at a party store)

Clear tape

Poster clay (available in office supply stores and craft stores)

Blindfold

Directions:

Hang the witch's face on the wall.

Place small pieces of poster clay on the backs of the Hershey Kisses.

Blindfold players.

The person whose "wart" is placed closest to the witch's nose wins.
