Christmas Card Coma

I received my very first Christmas video card last week and bid adieu to my electronic holiday greeting virginity. The Hallmark e-card stripped me of my seasonal innocence and now I guess I should expect my mail carrier to travel a little lighter next Christmas. Apparently, holiday e-cards are the wave of the future and soon traditional Christmas greetings, like these, will go the way of the Walkman and typewriter. Say it ain’t so. How many paper holiday cards did you receive this year? I sent out nearly 90 and have received more than half that amount as we wrap … Continue reading

Wish Me a Merry Christmas

“Wishing you a Merry Christmas,” those are the exact words splashed across the front of my family’s Christmas greeting card. Below it reads: “2010” and our names. Then, around the entire boldface greeting sits six lovely photos of my six-year-old. Thanks Minted.com. It would have taken me forever to sort through the hundreds of greeting card selections on the site. However, I found a way quick way to wade through the ocean of options. I clicked on “Christmas.” That one little click made a world of difference. I was not interested in sending out a card that said anything but … Continue reading

Christmas Backgrounds

Minted.com did an amazing job with my family’s Christmas photo cards. I had been searching for a card format that would allow for multiple images to be featured around some seasonal text, similar to a scrapbook layout, and the website delivered. Holiday photo cards have come a long way since double sided tape was used to adhere a standard snapshot to the inside of a traditional greeting card. These days you can create elaborate multi-page cards, which feature two to three images on each page. I can’t wait until someone comes up with a way to convert digital scrapbook layouts … Continue reading

Have a Merry Minted Christmas

I don’t drink, but walking into Target or Wal-Mart right now makes me want to run home and pour myself a boot of something stronger than beer. Tis the season for breakouts and breakdowns. Seriously. Have you been to the mall recently? Retailers have dumped their Halloween costumes and candy; bypassed Thanksgiving paraphernalia; and are shoving Santa down customers’ collective throats. Fa-la-la-la. We’re not even 85 hours into November and I already feel my inner Christmas Grinch bubbling up from the bowels of my being. How can I feel so behind on Christmas preparations when I still have buckets of … Continue reading

Calendar of the Year

I’m more J.Crew than JWoww, which is probably why I love, love Minted.com’s super fab new photo calendars. The company, which embraces innovative indie designs, recently released a line of photo-licious 2011 calendars that are 100 percent customizable. Which means conservative yet trendy (okay, wannabe trendy) moms like me can now covet calendars the way they do holiday cards. I know what you’re thinking: Photo calendars as Christmas gifts… ho, ho, ho-hum. Not this year. Believe me; if there is anyone, who is hair-triggered to place her kid’s adorable mug on a mug, mouse pad, tote bag or calendar, it’s … Continue reading
