Holiday Decorating: Christmas Crafts

When you start decorating for Christmas, do you decorate every room in your home, or just the main living areas? I know some people that decorate every inch. I usually do something in main rooms, the hall bathroom, and a little something in my kids' rooms.

We might put a few Christmas themed knick-knacks in their rooms, but mostly we've used stuff we made or things the kids made at school. We have quite a collection of ornaments that the kids have made over the years, too, and we hang each one on our tree.

You might like some of these ideas:

• Paper ornaments
• Ornaments made from school photos
• Baked dough ornaments
• Paper chains
• Paper Snowflakes
• Paper candy canes
• Beaded candy canes
• Pinecone crafts
• Styrofoam ball ornaments
• Wreaths

There are all kinds of fun Christmas decorations you and your kids can make. I'll be listing some here until right before Christmas. Do you have any favorites that you would like to share?

Here's one that's easy and cute:

Pine Bough Miniature Christmas Tree

Pick up a medium sized flowerpot and paint it to give it a festive look. When it dries, place floral foam inside. Gather some pine boughs (they can be real or artificial), and arrange them in the shape of a tree, securing the ends in the floral foam. Decorate to look like a Christmas tree, using tiny ornaments or making your own.

Add tiny lights and garland if desired. Another good way to decorate is to place a few strands of icicles over the tree and then place bows made from pretty ribbon randomly on the tree. You can make bows using ribbon that matches the décor in your little girl's room. You can slip on a few mini candy canes too. For boys, try tying string to miniature Matchbox Cars (the really tiny ones) and using them as ornaments.
