Homemade Lip Glossby Laura Torres | More from this Blogger 19 Apr 2006 05:44 PM Making homemade lip gloss is a great activity to do with your girls. It's a craft, it's a recipe, it's useful, and you'll have some mother-daughter bonding time. Not to mention you'll have shiny lips to show for it. You will need Petroleum jelly Microwave safe container Spoon Pixy Stix or sweetened Kool-Aid Clean, small containers to hold the lip gloss 1. Put a large spoonful of petroleum jelly in the microwave safe container. Microwave for 30 seconds. Use a hot pad to take the container out of the microwave (adult job!). Stir. Put the container back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Continue doing this until the petroleum jelly melts. Be sure and take it out every 30 seconds and stir it. 2. Stir in a little powder from the Pixy Stix or Kool-Aid. Stir until it all dissolves. 3. Spoon the mixture into the clean containers. Set aside and let the lip gloss get firm before you use it. This will take a couple of hours. Safety note: The lip gloss will last a long time, but if it changes color, consistency or smell, throw it out and whip up a new batch. Variations: Experiment with different flavors. Try hot chocolate mix or add a couple of red hot candies to the petroleum jelly while it's hot. When the red sugar coating has melted, remove the leftover red hot with a spoon and stir.
