Homemade Singing Kazooby Laura Torres | More from this Blogger 12 Mar 2006 10:18 PM This homemade kazoo is a little different than the comb-and-paper kazoo you might be familiar with. It is made with a cardboard tube and has a hole in the middle of it. You sing into the hole and listen to the funny music you make. Your kids will love making it as much as they will love making music with it. You can make this kazoo with any cardboard tube. Different sizes will produce different sounds. Try a piece of a wrapping paper tube, a paper towel roll tube or a toilet tissue tube. Singing Kazoo You will need: Cardboard tube Scissors Waxed paper Rubber bands Duct tape or Scotch tape Materials to decorate tube such as acrylic paint, markers, colored paper, colored tape, stickers etc... 1. Poke a small hole in the middle of the tube with the point of the scissors. (This is a grown-up job.) 2. Decorate the tube any way you would like. You can paint it, wrap it in colored paper or tape, draw on it with markers or cover it with stickers. Be creative. Let everything dry completely. 3. Cut two circles of waxed paper about two times larger in diameter than the end of the tube. 4. Put the waxed paper over the end of one side of the tube. Put the rubber band around the waxed paper circle to hold it on to the tube. make sure the waxed paper is stretched smoothly and tightly around the opening of the tube. Do the same to the other end of the tube. You can cover the rubber band with colored tape if you want to. 5. Cover the hole in the middle of the tube with piece of tape larger than your mouth. Poke the hole through the tape with the scissors. Your kazoo is finished! Cover the hole with your mouth and sing into the kazoo to make some music.
