Hosting a Girls-Only Super Bowl Party

If you don't want to be ignored by your hubby for five hours tomorrow evening you might consider sending him to a friend's house to watch the Super Bowl. While he's gone invite your gal pals over for a football fiesta of your very own.

Otherwise, if your better half has commandeered the TV remote, then meet up with your girlfriends at a local bowling alley or favorite restaurant. While there order some of your favorite drinks and toast the end of the football season.

If your guest list is stunted because your BFFs can't find a sitter to watch the kids, then consider amending the girls-only rule and make it a Mommy and Me Super Bowl Party instead.

Have the kids dress up in their favorite football jerseys or cheerleading outfits. Also, have some face paint and pom-poms on hand so the little ones can get in on the action.

To keep kids busy during the game set up an activity area complete with board games, stickers, arts and crafts, crayons, markers and construction paper. Older kids can create their own Super Bowl posters featuring their favorite teams.

Finally, don't forget to set up a super-size snack table for your guests. You don't have to go overboard following a football theme. Instead, keep the spread simple by offering kid-friendly finger foods and healthy appetizers for moms. Another option is to skip the healthy options all together and make Sunday a day to pig out on everyone's favorites-pizza, ice cream, nachos, etc.

Since the game ends past most children's bedtime, consider wrapping up your party right after the halftime show. Doing so will allow you time to clean up and get your kids in bed before your husband comes rolling in from his festivities.

What are you planning to do on Super Bowl Sunday? Will you be watching the game at home?
