Ideas for Father's Day

Father's Day never seems to get as much press as Mother's Day. It's sad, really. Dads are important, and we should make their day special. My own family is celebrating today instead of tomorrow since my husband has to drive our oldest to scout camp tomorrow.

I have a pineapple upside cake in the oven. This is one of my husband's favorite childhood desserts, but I've never made it before. I was never a big fan of it, I'm more of the every cake should be chocolate mindset.

Our children are at the moment armed with rags and cleaners and are cleaning out my husband's car for him. He'll be happy with a cleaner car, and it's something the boys can do on their own. I know some men who are very particular about their vehicles and wouldn't want children touching their cars, but my husband isn't one of them. Earlier today, I did his Saturday morning chores for him. And we have dinner plans for his favorite restaurant. We'll come home for dessert and a present or two.

My favorite Father's Day present is still the Photo Montage I did many years ago. It's something he'll always treasure.

For last minute Father's Day ideas consider doing a Candy Bar Message Card, or buying a game you can all play together - croquet, badminton, bocce, or a new Wii or computer game. Even a water gun fight would be fun, since it's his day, Dad should get the biggest gun.

The main thing is to have fun and to let him know that you and the children appreciate all he does for his family.

What are you doing for Father's Day?
