Last-Minute Easter Games and Craftsby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 09 Apr 2009 07:22 AM Peter Cottontail is prepping to hop down the Easter trail on Sunday, which means you have less than three days to prepare for his arrival. Forget about the traditional egg hunts and vinegar-based coloring parties; instead opt for these simple and affordable activities that will have your kids hopping with excitement: PIN THE EGG ON THE BUNNY Materials: Poster board Markers Construction paper Double-stick tape Scissors Directions: Use the poster board to draw a large Easter bunny, standing on its hind legs, and holding its paws out as if it were carrying an egg. Tape the drawing onto the wall. Draw egg shapes on construction paper (the eggs should be as large as the space between the bunny's paws), and then cut them out. Decorate paper eggs with markers, crayons or stickers. Add one piece of double-stick tape to the back of each egg. One at a time blindfold players and give each an egg. Spin each player around three times and have him or her try to get the egg in the bunny's paws. The player who gets closest to the center of the bunny's paws wins the game. EASY EASTER BUCKETS Materials: Small tin buckets (buy in bulk at Dollar Store) Paint White pipe cleaners Pink craft foam White craft foam Yellow craft foam Cotton balls Feathers Googly eyes Small pompoms Glue Directions: Give each child a tin to decorate. Start by painting each bucket. Allow to dry thoroughly before embellishing. Use the googly eyes pompoms, craft foam and pipe cleaners to create bunny buckets. (Pompoms for tail, pipe cleaners for arms and craft foam for mouth and ears.) Use googly eyes, pipe cleaners, craft foam and feathers to create baby chick buckets. (Craft foam for mouth and beak, pipe cleaners for legs and feathers to cover.)
