Mother's Day Gift: Ring Holder

If your mom does not like to take off her wedding rings, it may be because she needs somewhere handy to keep them. I never used to take mine off because I was afraid I would lose them. Then, my kids made me a nice ring holder so I'd have a safe place for them when I need to do a messy job or when they want me work on crafts. You can make one for your mom too!

Clay Ring Holder

You will need bake-able clay to make this project. Pinch off a piece of clay and knead it. Roll it into a ball then continue rolling it until it is shaped like a tube (or like a snake). Pinch the ends together to form a circle. Continue making tubes and circles and stack them on top of each other. About 3 or 4 layers high is good. From the inside pinch each layer together. Take another ball of clay and flatten it. This will be the bottom of your ring holder. Secure it to the shape you already made and bake it according to package directions. Let it cool before painting.

Glass Ring Holder

Ask Dad or another grown up to buy a glass votive candleholder at the dollar store, the smaller the better. Glue ruffled lace around the edge. Glue a narrower piece of lace on top of it. You can use a different color if you like. Add tiny bows or flowers. Next, trace the bottom of the candleholder onto a piece of felt. Cut it out and place it inside the candleholder (you will need to trim it a little to make it fit just right). Wrap it up and give it to Mom for Mother's Day or her birthday, and she'll have a perfect place to keep her rings when she takes them off!
