No Tears Bath Time Visor

by Sherry Holetzky | More from this Blogger

If washing your little one's hair has become a struggle, you will love this project. You can make a bath time visor to keep shampoo and water -not to mention tears- out of your child's eyes. It's simple, it's cheap, and it's a fun project to work on with your child while you explain (with great joy) how washing his or her hair will now be easy and painless.

Items needed:

  • Craft foam
  • Hole Punch
  • Spiraling elastic cord

Cut the craft foam into a half circle. You can use something round, like the lid from a medium sized food storage bowl, and just trace half of it onto the foam. Cut it out. Draw a smaller circle on the straight edge and cut it out as well. This is the part that will touch your child's forehead.

Punch a hole in each end, far enough in that it won't rip easily. Thread one end of the cord through a hole, leaving enough excess to tie a knot. Tie another knot for extra stability. Do the same with the other end. Holding the visor up to your child's head will help you determine how long the cord needs to be. Remember, it should not be too tight, as it will lie under your child's hair during washing.

*You can also use string or regular elastic to secure the visor in place.

Variation:

Make a bath time visor that looks like a duck.

Duck Visor

Cut the half circle (as described above) from orange foam and continue with the rest of the directions. Trace the small half circle that you cut out onto the yellow foam. Glue the straight edge of the yellow half circle to the top of the visor and glue on a pair of goggle eyes or cut some eyes from black foam and glue them on.
