Planning a Pooh Bear Birthday Partyby Lauri Griffin | More from this Blogger 27 Apr 2008 03:51 PM Being big Winnie the Pooh fans around here, we have thrown several "silly old bear" themed parties. Because there is so much Pooh related stuff out there, it is an easy party to put together. You won't have any trouble finding Pooh plates, Pooh shaped cake pans, or even Pooh piñatas. All of that stuff is fine, but it's more fun (and cheaper) to get a little creative. And making your own party stuff gets the children involved. For invitations think about brown honey pot shaped paper, or a red shirt shaped card with the word "Pooh" on the front. Also consider buying a Pooh sticker book for decorating your own envelopes. Let your children paint a "Hundred Acre Wood" sign for the front door. Poster board works, but so do pieces of scrap lumber. Your sign will look all the more charming and authentic for misspellings and backward letters. And as long as you have the boards and paints out make a "The Sandy Pit Where Roo Plays" sign for the sandbox. Once the kids start they may want to make signs for Owl's house, Eeyore's Gloomy Place, and more. Let your stuffed bears, tigers, owls, kangaroos, rabbits, and small pigs greet your guests at the door, or have them sitting in attendance somewhere near the party. The animals can hold a balloon or two, a small umbrella, or guard the presents. Also greet your guests with Pooh music from the Disney films or House at Pooh Corner from Kenny Loggins. Anything red or yellow make great Pooh decorations - balloons, tablecloths, or streamers. Bee stickers can be put on mirrors, doors, or tablecloths. Clouds, balloons, bees, honey pots, and umbrellas (for saying "Tut tut, it looks like rain") are all recurring items in the Pooh stories. As they say in the Pooh books, "Many happy returns of the day". Don't miss Games to Play at a Pooh Bear Party. We haven't done a Pooh party yet. This sounds like a great idea for when they're older and we actually have to have guests. I did make Scott a Winnie-the-Pooh cake for his birthday once. However many years ago that was. Lauri Griffin (2703) 08 May 2008 02:46 PMJMcReynolds, Pooh parties are great fun. Glad you liked the ideas.
