This craft project is so simple and inexpensive to make that your children can make four leaf clover badges for the entire family and all their friends.

Items Needed:

  • Heavy Paper or poster board (preferably green)
  • Crayons, markers, colored pencils
  • Glitter, glitter glue, paints, *optional
  • School glue or glue stick
  • Stapler and staples
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors
  • Double-faced foam tape or pin backs

1. Start by cutting out four hearts for each clover from green construction paper or poster board. You can use the image below as a pattern. If you don't have green, any paper or poster board will do, and your child can color in the shapes with green crayon, marker, colored pencil, or paint.

2. Attach the four hearts, with the bottom point of each one facing center, as shown. Regular school glue, glue stick, or staples will work.

3. Next, use wire cutters to cut 2" strips from green pipe cleaners. Attach one length of pipe cleaner to the back of each clover with a staple.

4. Apply one 1" square of double-faced foam tape to the back of the clover, leaving the remaining paper covering on until you are ready to wear the badge, or glue the badge to a pin back.

5. Embellish the clover with glitter, glitter glue, paint, stickers or anything else your child desires. Your child can write his or her name or "Happy Saint Patrick's Day" or the message of his or her choice on each badge.

6. Allow each four-leaf clover badge to dry as necessary.

7. Remove the paper covering from the adhesive, or open the pin, and put on your badge!

This project is super simple, fun, and makes cute badges that your kids will enjoy making for others. Get started making them early so your children will have lots of them to give away before St. Patrick's Day arrives!
