The Week in Review: September 9-15by Heather Long | More from this Blogger 16 Sep 2006 08:30 AM Good morning! I hope you're having a great weekend. I'm introducing a new feature here in the Family Fun blog that I've been doing in some of my other blogs. This is the Week in Review where we're talk about the highlights and more for the week. Please let me know what you enjoyed about this week and what articles were the most useful to you! September 9 We talked about Family Activities: Building Fun Baskets for Teachers and how you can make it a family project to honor your child's teacher or teachers. We can do this in any number of ways, but it's a great way to teach our kids if we immerse ourselves in the project with them. September 10 We took Sunday off to spend some quality Family Fun time with our Families. September 11 We talked about Putting the Fun back into FUNdraising as it's that time for students returning to school to start their PTA fundraising efforts. My daughter and I explore ways that we can make FUNdraising a part of our daily lives and not just an effort here and there. September 12 Teresa wrote about A Game of Ghost and how to play it. It's a great travel game that can be played in the car and you don't need any supplies because you just need to know where to add letters to create a new word. September 13 Teresa offered some information on Wacky and Wild Science Experiments and how we can engage our children in the fun of learning as a balloon blows up by itself (hey I did this in school!) and how color may magically spread. September 14 Send Secret Messages so children can pretend to be a spy and teaching them how to encrypt a message is a challenging and thoughtful way to get kids involved in learning and thinking outside of the box. We talked about Halloween Fun - A Treasury of Literary Characters and how you can encourage a school party where kids dress up as a favored literary character. We also talked about Pumpkin Carving: Stencils Are Your Friend. September 15 We talked about the Art of Story Telling and why it's so important to not lose this art of storytelling. How storytelling is as important as the skill of reading itself in engaging our kids in the joys of reading. Finally, we talked about Building a Baby Clothes Quilt and how we can make a real treasure for our children by saving pieces of their clothing through the years and building quilt blocks that we will eventually give them when they reach adulthood. We talked about Leaf Creatures: A New Way to Save Leaves and as well as Fall Leaf Placemats. What was your favorite story this week?
