Unique Father's Day Giftsby Teresa McEntire | More from this Blogger 22 May 2006 12:04 PM Father's Day is just around the corner and it's time to start thinking about gifts. Buying a present for your father can often be especially challenging. A person can only wear so many ties. So here is a list of possible gift ideas that you can give dear old Dad on his special day. Buy a gift certificate to your dad's favorite restaurant or better yet take him out to dinner. This gives you some one on one time with your father. (Note: it doesn't have to happen on Father's Day.) Get your dad a subscription to his favorite magazine, whether it's sports, hunting, dirt biking, or finance. Or a book on a subject he's interested in. If your dad loves the outdoors plan a camping or fishing trip. Check with Mom to make sure he's available, make the reservations, and then issue him an invitation to the event on Father's Day. Buy a pair of tickets to a sporting event and join dad for the event. Wash and wax your dad's car. Serve him his favorite breakfast in bed this can be as simple as coffee and toast or elaborate like fruit and waffles or my husband's favorite german pancake topped with peaches and whipped cream. Present your father with a pair of movie tickets and see a movie together. Write your father a letter: tell him how much you appreciate everything he has done for you and how much you love him. Go on a bike ride together or take a drive in the car and just talk. Surprise your dad on Father's Day with a decorated bedroom door or car covered with notes telling him all the reasons that you love him. Buy or make him a special treat - pie, cookies, cake, chocolate, or something else he loves. My husband always gets a blueberry pie on Father's Day. Let him sleep in as late as he wants to. If you have little ones entertain them somewhere else until dad wakes up Father's Day morning. Reserve a tee time and go play a round of golf together. Above all else Father's Day is a great day to let your father know that you love and appreciate him. So don't forget to give him a big hug and even a kiss.
