Valentine's Day is Coming Soon

It won't be long. February 14th is only about a month away. While you may still be catching your breath from the recent passage of the major holidays, it will soon be time to start getting ready for Valentine's Day.

Sooner might be better than later, especially if your kiddos seem to be having a little bit of holiday let down like many people feel after big holidays are over (especially Christmas). You can get them excited about some new projects and upcoming events and occasions.

Custom Valentines

Instead of buying packages of ready to use Valentines, consider making custom ones. If you aren't up for making them for your child's entire class (or if your child doesn't go to school yet), you can make some for family members, extended family, and friends.

Here are some ideas:

Super Simple Valentine

Pick some candy, preferably miniature candy bars or individual packets of candy, such as M&M's or Skittles. You'll probably start seeing them in Valentine's Day packaging, if they're not already available. While you can find some that already have the words to and from printed on them, it's more fun to use those that don't, so you can design and make your own nametags. Punch a hole in the nametag and thread some ribbon through it then tape or carefully staple the nametag to the package.

Valentine Surprise

Valentines hearts Make treat bags from paper or fabric. Cut a piece 12" long by 6" wide and fold it in half lengthwise. Crease the bottom and then secure the sides with staples, glue, or stitching. Add a personalized note and a treat. Tie the bag closed with ribbon.
