Which Card Is It? Magic Trick
by Laura Torres | More from this Blogger
Your kids will be able to do this trick easily because it doesn't involve any sleight of hand. It does, however, require an accomplice, which could be you.
The rest of your family or your kids' friends will go crazy trying to figure out how your child does this trick. What's fun is that they CAN figure it out if they are observant. Do it for them over and over until they catch on--then it's fun for everybody!
What you need: a deck of cards and an accomplice
The Show: You put ten cards, face up out on a table. You ask a member of your audience to choose a card by pointing to it after you have turned your back so you can't see. When you turn around, your accomplice touches several random cards asking, "Is this the card the volunteer (say their name) chose?" Your audience will be amazed that you will get it right every single time.
The Secret: Arrange the cards on the table in the same pattern as the suit on the 10 card. Make one of the cards a 10 card. When your accomplice points to the different cards asking if it is the one, he or she will point to the 10 card, putting his or her finger on the position of the card the volunteer chose. Then you know where the card is.
The accomplice can point to another card besides the 10 card first, as long as it is the wrong card.
You may want to practice setting out the cards a few times before you do this trick so you don't have to look at the 10 card to see where to put the cards.
To make the trick more advanced and further confuse your audience, practice with your accomplice so you can do this trick with a seven, eight or nine card as well. You can mix it up when you repeat the trick.
